The google analytics report of doyoudb2.com paints a very interesting picture of worldwide db2 users.

While it would not be exactly accurate to extrapolate the geolocation of doyoudb2.com visitors to represent actual db2 users around the world (due to various reasons), I am doing it just for fun. However, the google analytics site visitor statistics do give a fairly approximate idea of countries where most db2 users reside, and also tell about the global reach of db2.

Anyone can guess that the maximum db2 users are from the United States of America. The other countries indicating large scale db2 presence are India, Germany, UK, Brazil, Canada, China, Australia, Belgium and Spain. There were even a number of visitors from lesser know and non-english speaking countries like Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Uruguay.

Here is the percentage break-up of doyoudb2.com visitors:

USA                       36.65%

India                      13.17%
Germany                 6.53%
UK                         5.86%
Brazil                     5.09%
Canada                  4.76%
China                    4.31%
Australia                2.43%
Belgium                 1.88%
Spain                     1.43%
55 Other Countries    22.98%

A point to note here is that India is a major IT outsourcing hub and many db2 professionals who work in India use VPN to connect to US servers and have US IP addresses. Thus there may be a greater percentage of db2 users from India than 13.17% and lesser than 36.65 from USA.

The majority of the db2 visitors came from North America and the least came from Africa. I am not considering Antarctica (even if some penguin db2ers visit from there) as Google does not seem to collect statistics for that continent :-)

While most of the visitors land up using good old Google search, a big chunk of visitors also find their way through planetdb2.com and channeldb2.ning.com (thanks!)
